St Luke's Mews is a quiet, beautiful cobbled street, a stone's throw from the hustle and bustle of Portobello Road in London's Notting Hill neighbourhood.
Each property on the mews has its own individual character, style, and colour and they come together perfectly to make St Luke's Mews one of London's most amazing photo spots. The Victorian street lamps, artistic ironwork balconies, and array of beautiful plants and flowers, add to its iconic character.
The Mews houses were originally built as stables, housing horses owned by the wealthy occupants of the larger properties on Westbourne Park Road and Lancaster Road, which back onto St. Luke's Mews.
St Luke's Mews has featured in several films and TV shows, but is most famous for its appearance in Christmas RomCom movie Love Actually. It is on the Mews where Mark (played by Andrew Lincoln) professes his love for Juliet (played by Keira Knightley) in the famous romantic scene. He stands in the middle of the street and expresses his feelings on huge cards while Silent Night plays in the background.
Although St Luke's Mews is generally quiet, as a result of its appearance in Love Actually there is usually a daily trickle of tourists keen to get a photo outside the pink house that featured in the film.
The Notting Hill Carnival is an annual festival that has been taking place since 1966! It is one of the biggest street parties in the world.
Led by the British Caribbean community, the Carnival takes place on the streets of Notting Hill over two days each August Bank Holiday weekend. It is a celebration of freedom and Caribbean culture, packed with amazing colours, costumes and cuisine with plenty of dancing and music.
